Food Allergy and Intolerance

We are committed to promoting food allergy awareness to staff, students and visitors at Manchester Metropolitan University.

We provide clear guidance to all our staff on their responsibilities for the provision of food to anyone who may have a food allergy, food intolerance or coeliac disease, and we have relevant information and support available for staff and customers. Even though we cannot guarantee a completely allergen free environment, we aim to minimise the risk of exposure, encourage self-responsibility and plan for effective response to possible emergencies.

We know that food allergies and intolerances are life-changing, and that this can be particularly challenging for students and young people living away from home. Because of this, we will provide as much information as possible to any customers with food allergens or intolerance.

We offer relevant food allergy and food hygiene training for all catering staff, and update our daily menus with allergen information. If customers need further information, we would like to encourage them to talk to our Catering Managers to discuss any specific requests or concerns.
