Alumni getting involved

Alumni are helping us transform the lives of current students

Our graduate community are getting involved

There are many ways for alumni to get involved and support our campaigns.

Thanks to the generosity of former students first-generation students, nine of the cohort of 61, received a First Generation Scholarship when they enrolled in 2019. Many other alumni registered their interest to support students by volunteering their time and expertise by becoming First Generation Alumni Mentors.

The support of our alumni is truly inspirational to current and future students and is greatly appreciated by the University.

Run with Team Orange - be #McrMetProud and run for #ManMetFirstGen

To show the University's commitment to supporting young people across Greater Manchester, not only did we offer a discounted rate to our Team Orange runners, last year Manchester Metropolitan offered free places to the first 100 runners (alumni, staff and current students), who raised £100 or more for First Generation campaign!

"Speaking to former students gave me an insight into the wide variety of careers that they have succeeded in, following their degree, as well as gaining some career advice myself! It is so rewarding and inspirational to see the impact that gifts from alumni have upon future and present students."

There are many other ways to get involved with First Generation throughout the year: you can make a gift; fundraise in aid of First Generation; provide a paid placement; give your expertise and become a mentor for a first generation student.
