Reasons to support us

We break down barriers

Since 2018 we’ve supported nearly 600 young people, many from less advantaged backgrounds, on the First Generation Scholarship Programme.

We reward talent

Over 500 students received a donor-funded scholarship, bursary or prize last year.

We change lives

Our First Generation Scholarship Programme aims to change the lives of over 1,000 young people by 2025.

We open up education

45% of our students are from areas with lower participation in higher education.

  • Transformational scholarships

Thanks to the support of philanthropists, trusts, foundations and businesses who share our values, we’ve established a number of transformational scholarships for students from underrepresented groups at the University.

  • Award-winning First Generation Programme

The First Generation Scholarship Programme supports young people from the North West, whose parents or guardians did not go to university.

Scholars receive ongoing financial, pastoral and extracurricular support from pre-entry, including help with applying and preparing for university.

Without your support, it wouldn't be possible for me to be enjoying university as much as I am. I also have access to better technological ways of learning.

Receiving the scholarship gives me access to funds that will help me improve myself, both personally and professionally. Especially now that we live in a world where the cost of living is increasing, I feel as though I no longer have to stress about my financial conditions.

Samir
As a British Pakistani Muslim, this is huge for me and my family. I want to open the door for those in my community who believe they can enter this field, without feeling pressurised by parents or family to study more traditional subjects.
