Who am I?

I have been working as an academic for over 14 years. I love learning and teaching. I also like cricket and technology.

Why do I teach?

My passion for learning and teaching started at a very young age. I always felt the best way for me to learn was to be involved in teaching. I like to engage my students through interesting content, technology and most importantly humour. I try to make sessions fun for my students. Most importantly, I learn something new from my students almost every day.

How I’ll teach you

I plan my sessions to make them interactive and fun for you.In my lectures, I like to use visual contents and elements of surprise. Being a physiotherapist, I also like demonstrating hands on skills for patient management. Be ready to teach your colleges in my sessions!

Academic and professional qualifications

I completed my undergraduate degree in physiotherapy in India in the year 2000 from a premiere National Institute (SVNIRTAR, Cuttack) in the field of rehabilitation. In 2003, I completed my Master’s degree in Sports Physiotherapy from Guru Nanak Dev University, India. In 2011, I completed my second Master’s degree in Academic Practice from Manchester Metropolitan University. I am currently continuing an MBA  degree.

Previous employment

After gaining my professional qualification, I worked as a physiotherapist in a teaching hospital in India (MGM Medical College and M Y Hospital, Indore). I took a break from my career to undertake a full time Masters Degree. During this period, I had the opportunity of working with elite sports persons in India for over a year as a part of the degree. Following this, I worked as a clinician, Lecturer and an Assistant professor in different clinical and academic set-ups in India. Prior to joining MMU in 2006, I was working as the Vice Principal of School of Physiotherapy in MGM medical College, Indore. My roles included clinical practice, teaching and administration of the physiotherapy college.

Other academic service (administration and management)

I am currently an exams officer on the undergraduate programme and I am responsible for development of the virtual learning environment (VLE) for different units within the programme. I am also an international admissions tutor for the postgraduate programmes in physiotherapy.

I speak English, Hindi, Urdu and Odiya (A local dialect in India)

Why study Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Sports Injury management, Physiotherapy in Neurology?

Physiotherapy facinated me when I was seventeen and it still facinates me because of its variety, skills, and the opportunity to interact with people meaningfully. If you a social person who likes to make a positive difference to people's lives, physiotherapy may be for you. It gives me great satisfaction when I see the difference I have made to someone's life using my skills as a physiotherapist.

Postgraduate teaching

I teach on both Msc Pre-reg and MSc post reg physiotherapy programmes on Musculoskeletal units. I also teach on the leadership and management units.
