BSc Specialist Practice (DN)
Community Nurse Prescriber
I qualified as an adult nurse in 1993 and after working in cardiac and thoracic care I moved into community nursing in 1994 where I worked as a District Nurse for 9 years. I am a Specialist Community Practitioner (DN) and Nurse Prescriber. I carried out my degree, specialist degree and masters degree between 1993-2003 when I joined MMU as a senior lecturer in 2003. I am currently studying for a PhD exploring the history of nurse education and the experiences of nurse lecturers involved in the changes.
I currently teach on a variety of CPD units including evidence based practice, research, professional and practice development, independent study projects and leg ulcer management. I also have a history of teaching prescribing prior to and since joining MMU.
I was involved in the development of the award winning Non Medical Prescribing DVD and also contributed to a large research study conducted in conjunction with other Northwest Universities investigating the impact of Non Medical Prescribing.
