My research explores the application of psychological principles to experimental philosophy and real-world interventions. My contributions to experimental philosophy have been largely dedicated to understanding lay-people’s concepts of perceptible properties and epistemology. My contributions to applied psychology aim to change the health, wealth and wellbeing of people using light-touch and low-cost mechanisms, also known as nudges. Most of the applied work has taken place in National Health Service (NHS) organizations.
My work is published in peer-reviewed academic journals, e.g. Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology and Synthese. I have given invited talks for the Experimental Philosophy Group UK on research methods, and for the Department of Health on ‘Nudge’ mechanisms. I have received funding from Money Advice Service and the Health Foundation. I have developed projects with external organizations including (but not limited to) McDonalds, Orbit Housing Association, Citizen Advice Bureaus, Jobscentres Plus, and University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
Please contact me if you are interested in collaborating. I'd love to work with you.
