I have extensive experience in the Health and Social care sector as a practitioner, manager and trainer which spans over 20 years.
I initially worked in a frontline children and families social work team before moving in to the criminal justice field (both adult and youth justice sectors) where I developed various specialisms including court work and work with high risk individuals including those who perpetrate physical and sexual violence against others.
I maintain strong links with practice and currently work as a Treatment Manager in the field of Domestic Violence and Abuse alongside my academic role.
Prior to joining MMU as a Senior Lecturer in October 2015 I worked as both a Clinical Teaching Fellow and Lecturer in Practice Learning at the University of Manchester where I held the following responsibilities:
Academic Lead for Practice Learning
Module Lead - Methods and Skills for Practice, Social Work Issues in Practice, Preparation for Placement
Additional teaching responsibilities included - Safeguarding (domestic abuse), Comunication skills, Law (youth justice), Interventions for practice
Other (selected) responsibilities included developing and leading on Skills Training and Assessed Readiness for Direct Practice and membership of the Faculty Fitness to Practice committee
