Learners

Boost your digital career prospects by studying with us at MMU.

Businesses need people like you. The Institute of Coding (IoC), a large group of educators, employers, outreach groups and professionals formed to respond to the UK’s digital skills gap, has created an online catalogue to help guide learners in their journey to a digital career. Manchester Metropolitan University is one of the 33 partner universities to offer over 20 different digital skills courses that focus on in-demand areas like cyber security and artificial intelligence.

These high-quality courses are being designed by the IoC’s partners in close consultation with employers. This means that, by taking these courses, learners can be confident that they are gaining the digital skills that the nation’s leading employers are looking for. Along with face to face teachings at MMU, IoC also offer free online learning courses which aim to offer those who want to understand more about various topics, such as Cryptography. Furthermore, IoC work with MMU to offer apprenticeships for students to work full-time at one of the country’s leading employers or innovative SME’s, while studying towards a fully accredited degree with Manchester Metropolitan University.

Find a course As a world-class University, we offer a broad portfolio of courses to suit all students and their chosen paths.
Apprenticeships Our apprenticeships, in partnership with Institute of Coding, are for people looking to begin an exciting new career to develop their skills and capabilities with the support of their employer, in conjunction with studying towards a full-accredited degree.

With our network of partners and industry-focused courses, we have what it takes to help you keep moving forward in today’s world of digital transformation.

Outreach

Inspiring the next generation of digital experts.

Change starts with conversations. We want to talk to people who aren’t aware of careers in tech, people who want to work in digital but don’t know how, or have been put off by jargon or stereotypes in the past. And that’s where you come in.

If you work with large groups of people who might benefit from what we do, we want to hear from you. We need your help to inspire thousands of people and explain to them how they can kick-start a career in digital.

We are looking for new partners who can help us make that crucial first connection with people who haven’t been reached out to in the past. Institute of Coding host many events at Manchester Metropolitan University for students and outreach organisations which open doors for those who may not have experienced technology in their community. We’ve worked with Cub Scouts for a Saturday skill sessions that taught them how to do effective internet research which they then delivered power point presentations in groups to their parents. Sessions like this help introduce Cubs and Scouts to digital resources, which is ever so important in helping young people develop digital skills.
