This information is provided as a guidance only. Some courses may have specific entry requirements that are listed on the relevant course page.
We advise you to check for any additional subject/course specific requirements before submitting your application.
If you have these qualifications, that doesn’t mean you are guaranteed to get the place you want. We look at each application individually.
Foundation
You must have a minimum score of 13/20 in the National High School Diploma overall with a minimum of 10/20 in Maths. We accept the following streams:
- High School Diploma (Theoretical Stream) Nazari
- High School Diploma (Technical Vocational Stream) Fani Herfei
- High School Diploma (Work and knowledge) Kar o Danesh
You should have the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at minim level 5.5, with no scores less than minimum 5.5 in any section. We may accept equivalent qualifications.
Undergraduate
We will consider students for undergraduate study who have completed any of the following qualifications with the minimum grades outlined.
For courses which require 104-112 UCAS points (BCC- BBC):
- College of Technology Diploma (2 years) 13/20
- Pre 1992- 4 year High School Diploma 13/20
- Pre 2018 -3 year High School Diploma (Nazari or Fani Herfei) plus one-year Iranian Pre-University Certificate (Peeshdaneshgahe) at 13/20 plus Kankur (national university entrance exam)
- Kardani Associate degree at 13/20.
For courses which require 120 UCAS Points (BBB):
- College of Technology Diploma (2 years) 14/20
- Pre 1992- 4 year High School Diploma 14/20
- Pre 2018 3 year High School Diploma (Nazari or Fani Herfei) plus one-year Iranian Pre-University Certificate (Peeshdaneshgahe) at 14/20 plus Kankur (national University entrance exam)
- Kardani Associate degree at 14/20.
For courses which require 128 UCAS Points (ABB):
- College of Technology Diploma (2 years) 16/20
- Pre 1992- 4 year High School Diploma 16/20
- Pre 2018 3 year High School Diploma (Nazari or Fani Herfei) plus one-year Iranian Pre-University Certificate (Peeshdaneshgahe) at 16/20 plus Kankur (national University entrance exam)
- Kardani Associate degree at 16/20
For courses which require 144 UCAS Points (AAA):
- College of Technology Diploma (2 years) 17/20
- Pre 1992- 4 year High School Diploma 17/20
- Pre 2018 3 year High School Diploma (Nazari or Fani Herfei) plus one-year Iranian Pre-University Certificate (Peeshdaneshgahe) at 17/20 plus Kankur (national University entrance exam)
- Kardani Associate degree at 17/20
You should have the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at level minimum 6.0, with no scores less than minimum 5.5 in any section. We may accept equivalent qualifications. We advise you to check the relevant course page for English Language requirements as some courses may have a higher expected minimum requirements.
Undergraduate advanced entry and top-up degrees
You can apply to join a bachelor’s degree course at Manchester Met in its second if you have completed an Associate Degree (Kardini/ Fogh Diplom) from a recognised university in your country and may be considered with grades minimum 14/20.
Postgraduate
You must have a bachelor degree awarded by a university that is officially recognised in your country.
Courses which require a UK first class equivalence will expect applicants to have
minimum grades:
- 16/20 (state/public universities)
- 17/20 (private universities)
- 14/20 (For Prof UG Doctorates)
Courses which require a UK 2.1 equivalence will expect applicants to have minimum grades:
- 14/20 (state/public universities)
- 15/20 (private universities)
- 12/10 (for Prof UG Doctorates)
Courses which require a UK 2.2 equivalence will expect applicants to have minimum grades:
- 13/20 (state/public universities)
- 14/20 (private universities)
- 11/20 (For Prof UG Doctorates).
You should have the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at level 6.5 with no scores less than 5.5 in any section. We may accept equivalent qualifications. Some postgraduate programmes have additional language requirements. If you know which programme you want to study, contact us to check its requirements.
English language requirements
You need to have a recognised English language qualification to study at Manchester Metropolitan.
The score required will vary depending on the qualification and the area of study you have chosen. If you hold an offer of a place from the University, your offer will give you the specific requirements for your course.
Typical International English Language Testing System (IELTS) requirements are:
- 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in any section) or equivalent for undergraduate courses
- 6.5 (no less than 5.5 in any section) or equivalent for postgraduate courses

Visa requirements
You will need a visa to study in the UK unless you:
- are a British citizen
- are a citizen of a European Economic Area (EEA) member state or Switzerland
- have a visa to stay in the UK for another purpose that allows you to study. This might be because you are the husband, wife, partner or child of someone in the UK and have a dependent visa.

Tuition fees for 2023/2024 courses
Taught courses
You can use our online prospectus to check tuition fees for individual courses.
Some courses may have additional costs, for example for field trips, equipment, materials or professional / statutory body registration fees. Estimates are provided in the course listings. We will confirm fees as part of your offer.
Undergraduate taught courses
- If we classify you as an EU or Non-EU International student, you will normally pay between £17,000 and £18,500.
Postgraduate taught courses
- If we classify you as an EU or Non-EU International student, you will normally pay between £17,000 and £19,000.

Living costs
It sounds obvious, but your living costs really depend on your lifestyle – how you want to spend your free time.
We suggest you budget to spend at least £6,000 for the academic year, in addition to your accommodation costs and tuition fees. Around £9,000 will help you enjoy more of the sights and attractions that Manchester and the UK has to offer.
