Entry requirements if you have studied in Singapore

Foundation Year

Students who have taken Singapore / Cambridge GCE A level or UK A levels and not achieved the grades needed for direct entry to our undergraduate degrees.  

Undergraduate Courses

Singapore / Cambridge GCE A Level are equivalent to British A Levels and can be converted to UCAS tariff points. 


Undergraduate advanced entry and top-up degrees

Holders of a Diploma from a polytechnic are typically eligible for Yr 2 entry with good grades, provided there is a good match in subjects. 

Holders of an Advanced Diploma from a polytechnic are eligible for Yr 3 entry with good grades, provided there is a good subject match.


Postgraduate Courses

Bachelor degree from a recognised Singaporean state institution with good grades


Master's degree from a recognised institution, subject to obtaining minimum standing.

English Language Requirements

Standard (IELTS etc.) OR

Students who have taken Singapore / Cambridge GCE O Level, with a grade of C or above.          

A UK Degree delivered in Singapore is deemed as acceptable evidence of competency in English Language

Undergraduate courses

For Undergraduate courses, we usually ask for IELTS 6.0 (No less than 5.5 in any section) or equivalent.

Postgraduate courses

For Postgraduate courses, we usually ask for IELTS 6.5 (No less than 5.5 in any section) or equivalent.

If you have a UK qualification

If you have studied UK qualifications such as A Levels, you can calculate your UCAS Tariff points then check the individual course descriptions to see if you meet requirements. You can also find the minimum IB scores required by checking these descriptions.

Please note that these entry requirements are intended as guidance only and we do not guarantee entry to holders of the above qualifications. Minimum grade requirements may apply and entry requirements may vary from programme to programme and on a case by case basis.

U.S. Student Scholarships

We are pleased to offer scholarships worth £2000 each, to new undergraduate Manchester Met students who are a national of, or permanently domiciled in, the USA.

Please see the USA Scholarships - Terms and Conditions - 2018-2019‌ for further details and eligibility criteria.

The scholarship will be awarded automatically when you enrol and no application is required.

Please note you will not be notified that you have been awarded this scholarship and your offer letter will still quote the original (full) tuition fee, however if you are eligible it will be awarded after you enrol and before your fees are due. Your CAS will also include information about the scholarship.

This £2000 can be applied to your deposit, but please bear in mind that you will still need to cover the remaining balance.
