Entry requirements if you have studied in United States of America

Foundation Year

High School Graduation Diploma (Grade 12), subject to obtaining minimum grades.

Undergraduate Courses

  • High School Graduation Diploma (year 12) PLUS one of the following: 
  1. SAT I in Verbal, Maths and Written with minimum total that meets our entry criteria or
  2. 3 x AP tests with a minimum score that meets our entry criteria or
  3. ACT with a minimum score that meets our entry criteria
  • International Baccalaureate with a minimum point standing published on our website.

  • Students who successfully complete 1 year of University/junior college can apply for Year 1 entry

Undergraduate advanced entry and top-up degrees

American students who have completed a local Diploma or Associate Degree at an accredited institution, or have studied 2/3 years of a Bachelor Degree may be eligible for advanced entry ('Credit Transfer') - subject to a suitable course match, approval by departmental admissions tutors and obtaining a minimum CGPA.

Postgraduate Courses

4 Year Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution, subject to obtaining a minimum CGPA.

MPhil/PhD

4 Year Honours Bachelor Degree, subject to obtaining a minimum CGPA. If applicants have a Bachelor degree without Honours a Master's Degree will be required as applicants must have previous exposure to research/thesis writing

English Language Requirements

A minimum grade of C in a 12th grade English language related subject.

Undergraduate courses

For Undergraduate courses, we usually ask for IELTS 6.0 (No less than 5.5 in any section) or equivalent.

Postgraduate courses

For Postgraduate courses, we usually ask for IELTS 6.5 (No less than 5.5 in any section) or equivalent.

If you have studied UK qualifications such as A Levels, you can calculate your UCAS Tariff points then check the individual course descriptions to see if you meet requirements. You can also find the minimum IB scores required by checking these descriptions.

U.S. Student Scholarships

We are pleased to offer scholarships worth £2000 each, to new undergraduate Manchester Met students who are a national of, or permanently domiciled in, the USA.

Please see the USA Scholarships - Terms and Conditions - 2018-2019‌ for further details and eligibility criteria.

The scholarship will be awarded automatically when you enrol and no application is required.

Please note you will not be notified that you have been awarded this scholarship and your offer letter will still quote the original (full) tuition fee, however if you are eligible it will be awarded after you enrol and before your fees are due. Your CAS will also include information about the scholarship.

This £2000 can be applied to your deposit, but please bear in mind that you will still need to cover the remaining balance.
