Italian Pre-Intermediate Information:

Pre-intermediate 1 (Term 1):

Revision and consolidation of previous topics: talk about yourself and others (incl. nationality, family background, job hobbies & weekend activities); talk about past holidays; talk about your childhood; talk about what you are interested in; polite requests at the train station.

Pre-intermediate  2 (Term 2):

Holidays (misadventure and something lost/stolen); telling an event of your life; talking about when you were at school; newspapers & the media; culture (music).

Pre-intermediate 3 (Term 3):

National and regional food; Italian festivals; at the doctor (feeling unwell); reading an Italian medication Patient Information Leaflet; future projects; film; culture.

Description:

This course is ideal for you if you have done 2 years of Italian, can talk about the present and past and can deal with predictable situations in Italian, but would like to consolidate and build confidence in speaking, reading and listening, and extend your knowledge of the language and culture. Authentic contemporary listening and reading texts introduce you to current idiomatic Italian and Italian culture. You will be learning to negotiate what you need in practical contexts, to socialise and converse on topics such as technology, art, contemporary society and social problems, current events, books; and the grammar and vocabulary required, both basic and advanced. The emphasis is on communication. Written homework will be used to reinforce what is covered in class.

Grammar: present perfect, imperfect, conditional, imperative, indirect pronouns, possessive pronouns, relative pronouns, comparatives, future.


Russian Pre-Intermediate Information:

Level

The course runs over 3 terms. The aim of this course is consolidating Level A1-A2 and working towards Level B1.

Pre-Intermediate 1 Description

This course will be for students who have completed our Post-Beginner course or similar.

Outcome

This course will help learners to consolidate their understanding of Russian grammar, to further develop language skills, expand vocabulary and to learn more about Russian culture.

Japanese Pre-Intermediate Information

Level

The course runs over 3 terms. By the end of course, you will be able to perform at CEFR Level A1-A2.

Description

This course will be for students who have completed our Post-Beginner course or similar.

Outcome

This course will help learners consolidate their understanding of syntactical structure through lessons that focus on how to talk about topics relevant to daily life.

Arabic Post-Beginner Information

The course runs over three terms, working towards B1 CEF level.

Description

This course will be for students who have completed our Post-Beginner course or similar.

Outcome

This course is designed to enable students to develop accuracy and fluency in a variety of cultural and social contexts.

It helps learners to consolidate their understanding of Arabic grammar, expand their vocabulary, and to further prepare them for real world encounters with the foreign language. Aspects of culture and society will be explored and discussed.  

Indicative Grammar:

Extension of areas covered at Post-Beginner level (conjugation, attached pronouns, verb forms, connectors, time adverbs).

Evening Language Classes
