The Manchester Writing School at MMU and the International Anthony Burgess Foundation are delighted to present special guests Kerry Hadley-Pryce, Sarah Jasmon and Graeme Shimmin - all published graduates of the School.

Kerry Hadley-Pryce was born in Wordsley. After working in a variety of different jobs, including being an attendant at a petrol station, a secretary and a salesperson at the local newspaper, she became a secondary school teacher. Her debut novel, The Black Country, was published in 2015 and she is currently working on a second, Broken Dolls.

Sarah Jasmon lives on a canal boat near Manchester with her children. She has had several short stories published and is curating a poetry anthology. Her first novel, The Summer of Secrets, was published by Black Swan in 2015.

Graeme Shimmin was offered a book deal with Transworld after his novel, A Kill in the Morning, was shortlisted for the Terry Pratchett First Novel Award in 2013.

Manchester Writing is a new series designed to explore the techniques authors use and choices they make when writing, and debate issues arising from their work. Our guests will be reading from and talking about their work and in conversation answering questions from the audience. The evening will open with a short reading from original fiction by current students of the Manchester Writing School. Drinks will be available to purchase from the bar, and there’ll be a special Blackwell's bookstall, with signing after the event.
