Who am I?
Who am I?
I joined MMU in 1997 and became a Senior Learning and Teaching Fellow in 2002, now working in the Faculty of Business and Law.
My interests are in Family Law, particularly private child law, Legal Method and Legal Skills. I teach on the LLB Family Law unit, and am the unit leader for Legal System and Society on the LLB in Legal Practice. I also teach English Legal System on the Graduate Diploma in English and Hong Kong Law.
I’m particularly interested in developing students’ skills throughout the curriculum, and in promoting flexile learning routes into legal education, particularly through elearning. From 2014-16 I was the programme director for the LLB in Legal Practice, MMU’s distance learning LLB, which is a qualifying law degree which also gives satisfies the regulatory requirements for graduate membership of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. At the moment, I'm working with Kathryn Newton researching into the 'welfare principle' under section 1(1) of the Children Act 1989 and the potential impact of recent legislative changes on the autonomy of older children. I'm also working on a project on legal skills in the curriculum.
