Who am I?
Prior to being employed in the legal sector, I was employed in the criminal justice system. I was a Probation Service Office for four years and as part of this role, I was involved in supervising and advising offenders in the courts, prisons and the office. I also prepared means enquiry reports and undertook all aspects of court work. I started working for a specialist criminal defence firm. I became a trainee at the same firm before qualifying in 2001. I then progressed within the firm to become head of the Crown Court department. My main roles within this position included all aspects of criminal advocacy at the Magistrates’ Court and some advocacy at the Crown Court. I also prepared all types of criminal cases ranging from minor road traffic matters to murder cases. I oversaw the day to day running of the Crown Court department and was also a supervising solicitor for any employee who was undertaking the police station accreditation scheme.

I also have an Edexcel Assessor qualification (level 3) and a City and Guilds qualification in quality assurance and leadership (level 4) Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) Legal Practice Course Commendation Post Graduate Diploma in Law Commendation Joint Honours Degree Linguistics and Sociology 2:1
