I completed my LLB (Hons) in Law and Politics at The University of Manchester in 2011. During my degree, having particularly enjoyed Public Law, I completed a Parliament and constituency-based internship with The Labour Party. Throughout my degree, I continually gained legal work experience and, upon graduating, became a Paralegal (working both in residential conveyancing and in crime). I subsequently took the decision to pursue a teaching career, gaining a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education and qualifying as a teacher in July 2014. I taught A-Level Law and A-Level Business in Further Education sixth forms and colleges for a number of years, before joining MMU. I continue to act as an A-Level Law examiner with AQA.
I work directly with the Programme Directors to contribute towards the management of each of the Law programmes (undergraduate, postgraduate and professional). This involves regular analysis of student performance, progression, engagement and satisfaction data and the production of related reports to inform future practice.
One of my key responsibilities is the timetabling of Law School programmes, ensuring that both staff and student experience is supported.
Additionally, I co-ordinate extra-curricular activities designed to enhance the student experience (such as mentoring and scholarships), as well as contributing to the planning and implementation of student induction weeks across the Law School.
I manage the Student Experience Tutors within the Law School, as well as our Associate Lecturers.
I am involved in widening participating strategies by building partnerships with local schools, focusing on pathways to Law, with the intention of raising aspirations.
I have taught on the Criminal Justice and Civil Justice units on the LLB Foundation degree.
