Schools and Outreach

At Manchester Metropolitan University, we offer curriculum-informed sessions to nurture the tech and science talent of tomorrow

We enjoy strong links with schools and colleges in Greater Manchester and further afield, and we invite students onto our campus to introduce them to the possibilities of further student study and future careers.

Not all scientists work in labs and wear safety glasses. It’s important for students to see this and feel that science is accessible to all.

We offer a range of activities that can be tailored for student interests and age groups. Our sessions link directly to GCSE, A-Level and BTEC curricula, which can support teachers in delivering content that may require specialist equipment.

As our staff are teaching full time, sessions will primarily take place on Wednesday afternoons. However, with enough notice, we may be able to accommodate additional needs.

Enthusing, engaging and educating the next generation of scientists

We are passionate about communicating our innovative teaching and research to the wider community, whether that means primary school children, A-Level students or community groups. We are flexible and can deliver bespoke sessions, as well as collaborating with the broader community to establish new activities.

The work of our academic staff covers the spectrum of life sciences, from molecules to the whole person. We have the skills and knowledge to deliver material from Primary level to A-Level.

Outreach activities can be delivered at Manchester Met or we can visit schools and colleges to deliver bespoke sessions, while our enthusiastic student ambassadors offer valuable insights into university life and support our academics.
