Interests and expertise

Wesley completed a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences in 2005 and after a year in Toronto working at the Canadian Diabetes Association he began training as a trainee Biomedical Scientist in Clinical Virology based at Manchester Royal Infirmary where he gained his HCPC registration in 2007.  He is still currently registered fit to practice as a Biomedical Scientist.

In 2008, Wesley achieved a PGCE in Compulsory Education and Training and began a career in education. In 2009 he was awarded QTLS which is still active and in 2013 achieved a MSc in Science. Over the last 15 years, Wesley has been teaching in FE and HE on a range of courses. Roles have included lecturer, lead IV, head of course and curriculum manager. Wesley has always be passionate about widening participation and taken part in many strategies to target unrepresented communities into HE. 

Current member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, British Association of Sexual Health and HIV, Society for Education and Training and Society for Microbiology. 

Projects

2024 - Supervisor for level 6 research projects in the following areas;

  • Physiological  impact of HIV medication
  • Physiological consequences of PrEP regimes
  • Strategies to combat Gonorrhoeae resistance
