Honouring MCYS’s commitment to engaging young people in all aspects of our work, the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) was launched in October 2019
The YAC comprises a group of up to fourteen 16-24 year olds drawn from participants in MCYS participatory research projects and the Manchester Metropolitan student body, with a focus on engaging young people from traditionally marginalised populations.
The YAC has two primary goals:
1) to ensure that all aspects of MCYS activity are informed by a youth perspective;
2) to support young people to develop leadership skills and to have a voice on issues affecting young people.
YAC members will be provided with training and mentorship and will have the opportunity to play an active role in MCYS as advisors, representatives, researchers, and leaders.
