Manchester Writing School Writing & Talking Saturday Club Taster Day

This is an exciting opportunity for young people to develop and learn new skills, make new friends and enhance their personal/professional development in creative writing.

We are looking to recruit up to 25 young people (aged 14-16, year 9-11) to take part in our pilot. As this is a new initiative and we want young people to have a say in shaping and leading the programme, we are hosting a Taster Day on Saturday 17th March, 10.30-1pm, where young people can find out more about the types of activity we would like to offer. Come along, meet our tutors and students and have your say about what our Manchester Writing and Talking Saturday Club should look like.

Free but booking is essential. Book via EventBrite.

Parents/carers are welcome to attend a separate information session on the same day to find out more about the scheme. Please add your details to your child’s booking if you would like to know more.

• Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
  We ask for information during booking about your postcode, school and age. You must be aged between 13-16 (Y9-11) to be eligible to attend. Parents/carers are welcome to come along to find out more, we will take you off for a coffee, tell you more about the Saturday Club scheme and answer any questions you have.
• What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
  Please see mmu.ac.uk/travel/manchester The event takes place in the Benzie Building, which is the home of Manchester School of Art.
• How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
  We would hope to be able to answer any questions about the Saturday Club scheme at the event on 17th March but, should you have any questions about the event itself, please email k.tew@mmu.ac.uk or telephone 0161 247 1966.
• I can't attend on 17th March. Do I have to attend this event in order to sign up for the weekly sessions which start in April?
  No, you can apply separately. However, if you are able to attend this event, you will benefit from meeting the tutors and having your say about what the weekly sessions might include. So try to attend this if you can.
• What is the National Saturday Club scheme?
