The future of Manchester's city-region transport policy

Inaugural seminar event tackles the issues facing transport policy in Greater Manchester

In the first event of a new seminar series, hosted jointly between the University's Future Economies Research Centre and Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, a panel of expert speakers tackled the topic of Greater Manchester’s transport policy.

The topic is one at the heart of many urban centres’ challenges and addresses issues around moving increasing numbers of people into and around the city-region, planning the public transport networks that will support growth in the future, whilst responding to concerns over environmental impact and air quality.

The event was the first in a series seeking to bring together the latest academic research with the views and experience of business leaders, policymakers and wider civil society.
