MANCHESTER Metropolitan University alumna Ee Von Teo has been named a national winner in Malaysia in the British Council’s Study UK Alumni Awards.

Ee Von faced stiff competition in the Professional Achievement Award Category but triumphed at the awards ceremony held in her South East Asian homeland today.

The prestigious Study UK Alumni Awards not only celebrate the outstanding achievements throughout the globe of alumni who studied at a UK higher education provider and now live outside the country but also demonstrate the value and impact of a UK higher education.

Illustrious legal career

Ee Von's illustrious legal career started after she completed her Bar Vocational Course in 2006 at the University and she is now a Partner at Wong & Partners, which is the Kuala Lumpur office of the multinational law firm Baker McKenzie.

Her work as a Mergers and Acquisitions lawyer has seen her involved in a number of high-profile and highly complex corporate transactions, advising clients across various industries.

She can add her win in the Alumni Awards to a growing list of personal accolades and awards, having been recently shortlisted as a Rising Star by Euromoney’s Asia Women in Business Awards 2017 and recognised as the Malaysian Young Lawyer of the Year in the Asian Legal Business Malaysia Law Awards 2017.

The winners for the Malaysian stage of the 2018 Study UK Alumni Awards are Ee Von Teo for Professional Achievement (represented by Mary-Ann Kim Suan Ooi), Dr Tay for the Entrepreneurial award and Dr Yoong for Social Impact

Ee Von will now go forward to the regional award ceremony in April, with the winners progressing to the global awards later that month.
