Graduation 2024

Can you believe that graduation season is nearly here? The year is going by so fast!

If you are graduating this summer, then you are probably starting to think about what you need to do ahead of your graduation ceremony.

Not sure where to start? We have you covered. Below are some key dates and deadlines that you need to know about, so that you can begin to plan for your big day.

Graduation dates

Summer 2024 Graduations will take place at The Bridgewater Hall from Monday 15 July to Thursday 25 July.

You can see a full list of ceremony dates by visiting the ceremony schedule webpage

Graduation booking

You will receive an email invitation to book onto your graduation ceremony in Mid-April. This will be sent to your personal email and University email account.

Please book your place as soon as you receive your invitation, as certain ceremonies may close early due to capacity restrictions. If you login and your ceremony is full, don’t worry, we will offer you the option of attending an alternative one.

Guest tickets

All students can request up to two free guest tickets during the online booking process. You will need a ticket for all guests, including children of all ages.

If there are any spare tickets for a ceremony, they will be given out on a first-come-first-served basis, but this is not guaranteed. If more guest tickets become available, you will receive an email towards the end of May with details on how you can purchase additional tickets.

Robing

You can book your graduation robe when the booking system is open via our partners at Ede and Ravenscroft. The deadline for booking your robes will be 1 July 2024

You can find out more information on the robe booking webpage

If you forget to order your robe before the closing deadline for your ceremony, you can still hire one on the day at The Midland Hotel. However, the cost will be higher, and we cannot guarantee that all sizes will be available.

Photography

At the Ceremony

If you want to wait to have your photographs taken on the day of your ceremony you will need to book in advance.

You can book photography in advance through our official Graduation photographers, Ede and Ravenscroft.

Before your ceremony

There will be the opportunity have your photographs taken by the University’s official photographers, Ede and Ravenscroft, in advance of your graduation ceremony.

This is opportunity is available for:

  • Students who cannot attend their ceremony

  • Students who want to have family or friend group photographs

  • Anyone who wants to avoid any queues on the day of graduation

You will get a free gown to use at your photo session. All you need to pay for is the selection of photographs you would like printed.

You will receive an email with details about term-time photography in the coming weeks.

Degree certificates

You will not receive your degree certificate at your graduation. This will be posted to you in September, so it is important to consider where you will be living at that time.

If you gain an award any other time of the year, we will aim to process and post your certificate within 8 weeks of receiving your final result.

We will send your certificate to your permanent address. Please make sure your permanent address is up to date, so we send your certificate to the correct address. If your term-time address is the same as your permanent address, it is important to have this noted on your record.

If you need to update your permanent address, please contact the Student Hub.

The deadline to change your address for summer award certificates is Sunday 30 June 2024
