Biography

Dale joined the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences as a Lecturer in Sports Performance in April 2020 and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in August 2022. His teaching, research and consultancy is related to the physiology and performance of team sport athletes. Dale’s research utilises player tracking devices (i.e., GPS), heart rate monitoring and video analysis to study the physical characteristics of training and match-play which helps to inform the physical development and preparation of team sport athletes. Dale has published over 30 articles on the physiology and performance of rugby players and has worked in professional rugby in numerous applied sport science roles. Dale retains his visiting research fellowship within the Carnegie Applied Rugby Research (CARR) centre.
