Summary

About our research

We work to ensure that young people from all backgrounds have a say in the decisions and issues that affect them.

Our world-leading and award-winning research lets young people contribute to studies in ways that suit them, such as through sport, film-making, photography and digital storytelling.

We have a particular interest in getting views and insights from seldom-heard children and young people. These include, for example, justice-involved children, young people from refugee backgrounds, and looked after children.

And we use the skills of our academics and practitioners across a range of disciplines, including sociology, history, criminology and linguistics, to help bring about real change for young people.

MCYS works with public, private and voluntary organisations across the UK including the Home Office, the British Muslim Heritage Centre and Comic Relief.

Our reputation for excellence has forged partnerships with universities across the world from Australia to Bangladesh.
