The project will recommend ways to improve integration and inclusion by exploring the experiences of migrant children across Europe.
Researchers for Migrant Children and Communities in a Transforming Europe (MiCreate) want to better understand what migrants need by looking at issues from a child’s perspective.
They will study existing integration approaches and undertake fieldwork with 550 children, including:
- schoolchildren and staff in Slovenia, Denmark, Spain and the UK – newly arrived migrants, long-term residents and local children
- children in camps in Italy, France, Greece, Turkey and Poland
The research will support policy recommendations and help the project’s Integration Lab develop activities and toolkits. These will include digital storytelling, language learning and wellbeing.
Researchers from Manchester Met are working alongside academics from other universities and organisations across Europe on the MiCreate project.
