Can you tell us about your Computing and Mathematics career roles?

My first job after graduating was in sales and marketing in banking and I applied directly through the bank. Now, I’m a Private Banker for Credit Suisse and am responsible for providing private bank and investment banking services in asset management and investment products, family trusts, financing and capital marketing solutions. I also work on pre-initial public offerings for individuals, family offices, charities and corporate entities.

What topic of study or facilities in your department, did you enjoy the most and why?

Doing a Mathematics degree at Manchester Met was one of the best choices in my life. Learning programming during my course really helped my career progression in the finance industry.

I enjoyed statistics and programming the most. During the classes, I found that these areas are my real interest and professors were encouraging, supportive and patient when explaining things. I used to ask a lot of questions in class and they were always happy to answer all and make sure I understand.

Greatest achievements?

Being able to engage in different banking areas and work with clients from a variety of backgrounds, as well as developing a network. Other achievements include managing total loan portfolios over USD 600M in corporate banking and managing a total asset size of over USD 160M in private banking.

Recently, I have been invited to be part of the Advisory Board of a multi-national corporation and I will be helping with their global business strategy.

What are your plans for the future?

I have been involved in retail banking, corporate banking, private banking and investment banking over the past ten years, gaining experience, knowledge and developing my network. In the future, I hope to have a business of my own and be able to advise different companies about how to grow their businesses. In the longer term, I hope to be able to create something that improves the world and set up a charity fund.
