The Faculty graduate school supports research students with subject-specific skills, in addition to the general training and support provided by the University's graduate school.

We provide sessions in skills development, not only related to your subject but also to your personal development. Some examples of past sessions include Experimental Design, Information Retrieval, Introduction to Teaching, Health and Safety, Scientific Writing and Scientific Ethics.

We also run social events and a Research Student conference, where you will have the opportunity to give an oral or poster presentation on your work.

We have also put on courses in response to student requests, for example in statistics packages.

Student representatives help to organise our events and sessions and provide a valuable opportunity for you to voice your opinions to the Graduate School and to the Faculty Research and Enterprise Committee

General skills and support

Research students across the University are also supported in a variety of ways through our central Graduate school.
