About the department

We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality teaching and research across all our specialisms.

Career-focused programmes

Our postgraduate courses reflect areas where there’s a demand for specialised skills. We also have conversion courses to help graduates from other subjects move into computing.

Our undergraduate students can take part in a year in industry, whilst final-year and MSc students regularly collaborate with industry. Our collaborative projects offer businesses the chance to employ skilled students, while placement students gain valuable experience in the sector. We collaborate with many organisations of all sizes to boost our student’s employability skills and address areas of skills shortage.

Institute of Coding

We’re a major partner in the UK’s Institute of Coding (IoC). Bringing together a range of universities, industry, training providers and professional bodies, the institute aims to minimise digital skills gaps.

Consulting and knowledge exchange

We have a track record of success in consultancy and through the commercialisation of research ideas. Find out more about our knowledge transfer services.
