Facilities

Get to know the facilities

The Dalton Building provides a professional study environment with purpose-built teaching and research spaces. So when you graduate, you’re well prepared to excel in a modern workplace.

Light engineering workshop

The light engineering workshop features new equipment like improved laser cutters and provides you with great opportunities to collaborate with your peers and industry partners, sometimes on live projects.

For example, engineering students in the third year might take a brief from an industry partner - often a local small-to-medium-sized organisation - to find a solution to a challenge that they face. This could be designing new parts for a local automotive company that will help to improve the efficiency of their electric motors.

You can use the space as part of timetabled sessions, as well as to progress special projects outside of classroom hours. Using the space in your own time enhances your development and can help you stand out when it comes to applying for a job.

The remodelled computing and maths studio, designed in collaboration with our current students, provides an enhanced learning experience in a professional setting.

You can bring it to life even further outside of your classes by organising hackathons, developing your own video games and having the space to use your imagination to create the technology of the future.

The superlab is an open-plan, modern laboratory environment with state-of-the-art equipment. We’ve designed it to allow students and researchers from different subjects to work together in the same lab space at the same time. That way, you can interact with one another, inspire innovative ideas and grow your professional network.
