I am a Reader, a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications (FIMA) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). I was concurrently an Associate Lecturer with the Open University (2008-2012). I have been nominated for a National Teaching Fellowship in the UK three times and was instrumental in establishing a Schools Liaison forum in the North West of England. In 2010, I volunteered as a STEM Ambassador, in 2014 I became a Speaker for Schools and in 2017 I was asked to speak for the Training Partnership (ttp). I am a Public Engagement Champion at MMU. In 2020, I became Chair of the North West Branch of the Institute of Mathematics & its Applications (IMA). My research area is in Dynamical Systems and I am a world leader in the use of Maths packages in teaching, learning, assessment, research and employability. I am the co-inventor of binary oscillator computing with patents covering the UK and US. I am the author of seven books. Note that all of my Springer books have accompanying working programs that can be downloaded from the web. According to Springer, chapters for my books have been downloaded over 500,000 times. Working with the IMA, I deliver one-day national workshops in the UK on "Python for A-Level Mathematics and Beyond." I also deliver 5-day international workshops on "Python for Scientfic Computation and TensorFlow for Artificial Intelligence."
