Ijaz has received his BSc (Hons) Physics degree from Punjab University, Lahore Pakistan in 2006. He has obtained his M.Sc. in Optoelectronic and Communication Engineering degree with commendation from Northumbria University at Newcastle upon Tyne, UK in 2009. After the successful completion of his M.Sc., he has been awarded Northumbria University studentship to pursue his Ph.D. He was awarded his PhD degree in 2013 at the same Northumbria University, UK for his research work in Free-Space Optical Communications.
Dr Ijaz is currently working as a Lecturer in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the Department of Engineering at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. Prior to this he worked as an Research Associate in Visible Light Communication and Li-Fi at Institute for Digital Communications, Li-FI R&D Centre, University of Edinburgh, UK. He worked in one of the prestigious EPSRC funded (£4.6 million research grant) UP-VLC project. He has published over 30 peer reviewed articles in the area of optical wireless communications. His research interests include Optical (wireless and fibre) Communications, Li-Fi, Channel Modeling, Advanced Modulation Schemes and Signal Processing.
