Ian joined Manchester Met Business School in Sept 2017 following a year as an Associate Lecturer teaching on the MBA, the MSc in Leadership and on the BA (Hons) HRM.
Prior to joining Manchester Met University Ian worked in a range of HRM and Organisational Development roles, over 25 years with 3 multi-national manufacturing businesses; McBride plc, Ranks Hovis McDougall and Ford Motor Company.
Ian’s last role as the Group Head of Learning & Talent Development; throughout Europe and SE Asia. The most recent activities include Management, Leadership and Team Development alongside establishing internal Coaching and Mentoring.
Ian’s early career began as a Private in HM Forces; shortly after joining Ian was selected as a Potential Officer and graduated from RMA Sandhurst with a Short Service Commission. An opportunity to learn and practice leadership on the ‘front line’ prior to starting a career in Personnel and HR management.
Ian has an MSc. in Human Resource Management and is a Post Graduate qualified coach (PG Diploma, Sheffield Hallam University) and a volunteer member of the European Mentoring Coaching Council. An NLP Business practitioner and a licensed psychometric practitioner. Over 15 years’ experience of working with leaders and their teams using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator® to improve communication and manage transitions.
