Play for fun

If you don’t fancy the commitment of joining a team, then come along to Active Campus Basketball where you can turn up and play for fun.

It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced player or have never played before, Active Campus is for everyone and all abilities. Our friendly student activators will be on hand to welcome you and guide you through the session.

When: Thursdays 16:30 – 18:30 and 19:00 - 20:00 (women's only) Fridays 19:30 – 20:30

Active Campus timetable


Compete against friends, flatmates and course mates in our Basketball Campus League.  Play weekly fixtures with qualified umpires and compete against other university teams at Manchester Met.

Our Campus Leagues are a great way to play the sport you love in a social but competitive environment, with trophies and prizes at the end of the year for the winning team.

Manchester Met Basketball is one of our performance sports. This provides an integrated pathway with the area’s top basketball clubs in the Manchester Giants (BBL), Manchester Magic (NBL 1) and Lancashire Spinners (NBL 1).

BUCS level

Our teams compete in the following BUCS leagues:

  • Men’s 1st team - Northern Premier
  • Men’s 2nd team - Northern 2a
  • Men’s 3rd team - Northern 3a
  • Men’s 4th team - Northern 4a
  • Women’s 1st team - Northern 1a

Our sport staff

Coaches and support staff

Callum Jones coaches the men’s 1st team, having over 10 years of experience coaching at AASE academies and University level.

Callum also captains the Manchester Giants BBL team, as part of an eight-year professional career.

Basketball scholar Rihanne Bailey coaches the women’s team alongside studying at Manchester Met and playing for Manchester Mystics.
