Does it cost money?

No, Mcr Met Moves is completely free. We have created this platform purely to help motivate staff and students at Manchester Met to stay active during their busy schedules.

What fitness tracker can I connect with Mcr Met Moves?

You can connect several free apps on your phone or a wearable fitness tracker. A list of compatible devices can be found below:

  • MapMy Fitness
  • Misfit, Moves
  • Runkeeper
  • Strava
  • Technogym

To use your phone as a fitness tracker and link our step count for Apple Health, Samsung Health, Google Fit, you can download the Withings Health Mate mobile app from the App Store or Google Play, activate step tracking, and connect it to this site by using the Connect Withings button below. You can also use Apple Health and Google Fit to link with third party tracking devices like Apple Watch and Mi Band.

How do I sync my tracker or connect my phone as a tracker?

Fit Bit or Garmin devices: If using one of the branded Fit Bit activity trackers, go to your Mcr Met Moves account, Click on My Account and drop down to Connections. Click Connect and follow the steps with your Fit Bit.

Using your phone as a tracker: If using your mobile phone, we recommend Nokia Health Mate, otherwise known as Withings Health Mate app from iTunes or Googleplay. Download the Withings Health Mate app, follow all the instructions and set up your account.

Once registered, open the app and click the profile tab. Scroll down to 'apps' and tick your phone’s health tracker (e.g. Apple Health). This will open up apple health and click all categories on which will allow Withings to pull all the data from your phone.

Log in to your MCR Met Moves account, click 'My Account' and open up 'Connections'. Scroll down to 'Withings' and click connect. This will now pull all data from your phone to Mcr Met Moves account.

There’s a variety of challenges that you can participate in and you can even set your own up and invite friends to join.

What rewards are available?

There’s a variety of rewards available including MCR Met Moves merchandise, food and drink from university catering outlets and vouchers from high street retailers.

How long will my points last?

Your points will last for a maximum of 13 months and a minimum of nine months depending on when you first registered. Here is a breakdown so you know when your points will reset:

  • Sign up between 1st June 2019 – 31st August 2019 – reset on the 31st July 2020
  • Sign up between 1st September 2019 – 30th November 2019 – reset on 31st October 2020
  • Sign up between 1st December 2019 – 29th February 2020 – reset on 29th February 2021
  • Sign up between 1st April 2020 – 30th June 2020 – reset on 31st May 2021

Why has the reward value changed?

We reserve the right to increase or decrease the points associated to each reward without notice.

This is due to price inflation at the time of purchasing the stock.

My activity doesn’t match up on MCR Met Moves?

Activity trackers may record your activity levels differently from time to time. This is because trackers are operated by a third party provider for which MMU Sport have no control and therefore accept no liability for any discrepancies.
