Dr Alaa Abed

My research interests are within the areas of sustainability and innovation (specialised in Research and Development - R&D investment). My research focuses on the interrelationships between R&D investment, corporate governance, growth opportunities and firm growth. In addition to my work on R&D investment, I am also involved in research within the fields of sustainability, environmental and social performance, circular economy and strategic business.

My expertise is in the application of advanced quantitative methods in business research. I have a good background in data analysis, which I apply to my research to provide robust and reliable findings. My research aims to contribute to the academic and practical understanding in R&D, corporate governance, and sustainability initiatives.

I teach across the sustainability group in SES Department. Including, 

• Global Concerns for Sustainable Development (Level 4).
• Management Studies in Context (Level 5) - unit lead. 
• Business Research Project (Level 6) - unit lead. 
• MSc Management Dissertation Business Simulation (Level 7).

• Supervised more than 10 Master’s students to successful completion of their research projects.
• Currently, I am acting as a second supervisor for a PhD student, his research within the area of R&D and environmental sustainability.
