We've been educating teachers, practitioners and professionals for over 100 years and have a partnership network of over 1,500 regional schools, colleges and educational organisations.
We’re proud to be one of the largest teacher training establishments in the country and we welcome over 700 trainee teachers onto our PGCE courses each year.
We specialise in training for primary school teaching, including early years. Both our BA and PGCE courses lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and PGCE students can also choose between a University-led or School Direct route.
We offer over 20 specialisms for those wishing to teach in secondary schools or colleges. These include the national priority subjects: Mathematics; Science; Physics with Mathematics; Modern Foreign Languages; Design & Technology; Computing with ICT.
We offer seven part-time masters courses in education. Our courses are designed for busy professionals, practitioners and leaders working across the field of education. Our courses are closely linked with the University's research groups, including the Education and Social Research Institute.
