School of Teacher Education and Professional Development
“Teaching seemed like the kind of career that would allow me to meet different people and personalities everyday.”
After graduating from university I worked as a Design Engineer for three years, however this wasn’t fulfilling me and what I wanted from life. Teaching seemed like the kind of career that would allow me to meet different people and personalities everyday.
I chose Manchester Met because of the University’s reputation for its teaching programmes and the School Direct route seemed like it would be a good transition from working life back to university.
The PGCE has been the hardest yet most rewarding year of my life so far. It is difficult to balance university assignments and school work with life! However, getting to the end of each term and looking at how far you have progressed is the most satisfying feeling and makes you enjoy your holidays so much more!
When I graduate I would like to find a school that will encourage my progression throughout the NQT year and help me to meet the teaching standards and become a successful classroom teacher.
In the future I have aspirations to be a head of department for Design and Technology. I also have an interest in SEN and would possibly go down a pastoral route.
