“Business is an incredibly interesting, relevant, and ever-changing subject that impacts on everyone.”
After working in industry I found myself feeling bored and not really getting anything back from the job. My experience working as an unqualified ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher for 18 months in China gave me an insight into the rewards to be gained from teaching, so I decided to take up a PGCE and teach my degree subject (Business Studies).
Business is an incredibly interesting, relevant, and ever-changing subject that impacts on everyone.
Having researched my options and after reading about Manchester Met and hearing from others who had done a PGCE with the University, I decided it was a good choice for me. Once I’d met my tutor for interview it reaffirmed my decision.
I have a family and my young son deserves my time as well so it’s been a balancing act to keep everything moving. There has been no time to procrastinate as I have had to get the work done when the time became available.
Looking to the future. Head of Department? Mentoring others? Head Teacher? Working abroad? I don’t have a specific and ‘one-way’ road, but I’m certainly open to a number of paths that might present themselves. Finding the right school for me will be a big determining factor.
