You are very welcome to attend either the student or the class mentor briefing above.
All placement documentation is available via the Partnership website.
- General information such as policies & procedures for placement, what to do if your student is absent, information on payments to school, what happens if a student is at risk of failure.
- Placement specific information & documentation such as the comprehensive placement e-handbook, report forms, blank lesson observation forms, examples of completed reports and observations.
- Resources for mentors such as briefings and mentor training resources
However, this is not a full substitute for meeting with you and discussing the forthcoming placement in person! The central briefing for class mentors will take place alongside the now established more locally based cluster training and we very much hope you will be able to attend one of these meetings. This year, there have once again been some significant changes to the PG1 placement and to partnership documentation, therefore it is highly recommended that if you are hosting this placement, at least one member of staff attends the briefing and then feeds back to any other class mentors who are supervising PG1 students. We would also strongly encourage anyone who has not attended a class mentor briefing for the first PG placement or has not attended one in the last three years to do so this year so that we can share and discuss the key changes with you in person. We very much look forward to meeting with you at one of the briefings.
For Manchester, the location is Birley Campus (Brooks Building). Please click onto the following link for the location of Birley and the Brooks building within the Manchester campuses
Parking at the Manchester campus is very limited and public transport is advised.
Class Mentors wishing to attend the meetings will need a permit to park, obtainable via email from the Placements Office. Visitors should note that a parking space is not guaranteed and that a valid Pay & Display ticket must be purchased at a cost of 30p an hour. Car parking costs can be claimed back as part of visitors’ travel expenses (please ensure the parking ticket is attached to the expenses claim form, issued at the briefing meeting).
Would you please confirm attendance with the Placements Office by email: firstname.lastname@example.org stating the name and postcode of your school and the full name of the teacher(s) attending?
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact the Placements Office.
We hope that the placement is both enjoyable and productive for all concerned and would like to thank you once again for the support that you offer to the students and for your continued contribution to high quality Initial Teacher Education in partnership with MMU.
