Alongside our PGCE Secondary routes, we are working collaboratively with the University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering to develop new undergraduate routes for those wishing to teach STEM subjects, including Mathematics or Physics at Secondary level.

These programmes will allow those who know they want to become teachers in these specialisms to study relevant components in an integrated way, whilst developing an understanding of wider educational issues, alongside gaining teaching expertise and achieving Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Our innovative BSc (Hons) Secondary Mathematics with QTS builds upon the strong reputation and expertise of the Faculty's Centre for STEM Education. This course is aimed at those who know they wish to become teachers of mathematics to study traditional undergraduate mathematics and mathematics education whilst acquiring teaching experience in schools which will lead to qualified teacher status (QTS) for the 11-18 age range.
