Lecture Theatre 5, Geoffrey Manton building
Born in Manchester SuAndi’s heritage of a Nigerian father and Liverpool (Irish) mother has strong connections to oral history. She believes that ordinary people have the most extraordinary experiences that rarely make it into history books. Telling stories not only keeps history alive but it serves as a learning platform for tomorrow.
An Honorary graduate of this university, SuAndi has written poetry, prose and librettos and has performed her poetry internationally as freelance Cultural Director of the National Black Arts Alliance, on whose behalf she has organised a wide range of exhibitions and events. She has a reputation of mixing hard facts with sharp humour in poetry that can bring tears. She says of her career, “I have received awards, honorary degrees and accolades and I am still broke!”
