Ramadan 2024

In 2024, the holy month of Ramadan is expected to take place from Sunday 10 March to Tuesday 9 April. For some students, this might coincide with examinations and submission deadlines.

The University recognises that students who are observing Ramadan will be faced with additional challenges in their preparation for, and during, examinations and assessments.

If you are observing Ramadan, the University would still expect you to be able to undertake and complete your examinations and assessments, however, you may be able to request an extension if you have been affected by circumstances out of your control.

Support for students

We can offer support to students through our Chaplaincy Service and encourage students to follow advice on staying in good health while fasting. The British Nutrition Foundation has some useful advice on managing your wellbeing during this time.

You can also take advantage of the free Iftar packs offered daily by the University throughout Ramadan. These are available for collection from the Library, Business School, Brooks building and Cavendish Prayer Rooms.

University Chaplains

Our University Chaplains are available to provide support to all students and the University also has a team of Wellbeing Advisers, who are available to listen and help.
