Course details

The rise of digital has changed marketing, creating an explosion of opportunity across the industry. This course allows you to tap into that opportunity – not just keeping pace with change, but putting you at the forefront.

It’s designed with professionals in mind – with highly flexible online study that leaves plenty of room for family life or work commitments. It’s built on foundations laid by the UK’s first MSc in Digital Marketing Communications, launched here in in 2007. It combines expert teaching and top-quality academic guidance, with insight from practising professionals - ensuring you finish up with the expertise you’ll need to excel in a variety of digital roles.

The course content is delivered online and you’ll study part-time over 30 months. You’ll study 10 core units, covering areas including Digital Value Proposition Design and Conversion Strategy. From there, you’ll learn the masters-level study skills you’ll need to tackle a major piece of work, before going on to complete your dissertation project.

The live online classes take place in three-week blocks, with four blocks in your first year, four in your second and two in your third.

You can choose to take breaks between stages to accommodate career or family commitments. However, you’ll have to complete it within five years.

10 credits equates to 100 hours of study, which is a combination of lectures, seminars and practical sessions, and independent study. A masters qualification typically comprises of 180 credits, a PGDip 120 credits, a PGCert 60 credits and an MFA 300 credits. A Masters qualification typically comprises 180 credits, a PGDip 120 credits, a PGCert 60 credits, and an MFA 300 credits. Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of study provided the course is completed in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).

Additional costs

All of the books required for the course are available from the library. The University also has PC labs and a laptop loan service. However, many students choose to buy some of the core textbooks for the course and/or a laptop. Students may also need to print their assignments and other documents. Campus printing costs start from 5p per page. Estimated costs are £300 for a laptop up to £100 for books and printing. Total optional cost: £400
