Start your journey. Shape their future.

Do you want to make a difference in the world? A career in teaching gives you the opportunity to inspire the next generation and make a genuine positive impact on their futures.

There’s more to it than lesson planning and marking homework. It’s about understanding your pupils, and empowering every one of them. A career in teaching is one that is constantly evolving with you. Teaching is challenging, exciting and rewarding, and presents lots of opportunities for personal growth too.

The stories, the lessons, the memories – it all starts right here with you.

When I got home after my first day of teaching, I couldn’t quite believe I was a ‘real’ teacher – and on my own in a classroom. It was a big moment! I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

Why teaching?

Make a lasting impact

You’ll have the opportunity to make a lasting positive impact on children’s lives, both inside the classroom and out. Help them fulfil their potential, become confident and shape their future alongside them. There’s really nothing else like it.

A career for the future

Teachers are in high demand. The nurture, support and influence a teacher brings is unique. Starting salaries are £30,000 from 2023. There are so many opportunities to progress personally. The early career framework (ECF) will give you the support you need during the first two years of your career.

Flexible opportunities

Once you’ve graduated with your PGCE from Manchester Met, you’ll have an internationally recognised qualification. As well as teaching in England and other parts of the United Kingdom you can teach overseas, or work in other educational settings such as theatres, youth rehabilitation, prisons or museums.

Constant development

Every day’s a school day. A career in teaching means you never stop learning and growing. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the future of your specialism for generations to come.
