Experience life as a student
The summer taster event welcomes First Generation participants onto our campus for a series of social and study activities. It’s the perfect opportunity to get a real insight into what university is like.
We focus on teamwork and presentation skills - giving you the necessary tools to succeed at university.
There will also be opportunities to speak to graduates and professionals to hear first-hand the skills and qualities employers are looking for.
The summer event was really helpful as it gave me the chance to experience what it's like to live in halls. I know more about university life, and feel more confident about adjusting to university when the time comes.
Summer taster options
This year we’re delivering residential, non-residential and virtual options, and all take place over three days.
You’ll get to experience life on campus, work on an exciting project with a small group of other students, meet some of our former students (alumni), and take part in some fun social activities. You’ll be supported by Student Ambassadors with similar life experience at all times.
If you take part in our non-residential event you’ll go home at the end of each day. Our virtual event will take place at the same time as the non-residential, so you’ll live-stream into most of our on-campus activity for a truly immersive experience.
During our residential event you’ll stay on campus in University halls accommodation. Each flat is accompanied by a trained student ambassador of the same gender. Males and females are housed in separate flats and blocks. Staff also stay overnight and are available 24 hours a day.
