Universities have a bigger opportunity than most organisations in educating future generations and driving research into the sustainable development agenda.

In light of global challenges, universities must do all they can - through funding and delivering research with beneficial impact for society, culture, the environment and the economy. 

It’s vital our research activities address global challenges, like climate change and social inequality, and have far-reaching impacts beyond the boundaries of our own University campus.

The Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategy led to the creation of Manchester Metropolitan University Research and Knowledge Exchange Centres (UCRKE). UCRKEs act as the catalysts for change to increase critical mass and develop the research skills necessary to produce work that has real-world benefits. Centres focusing on, and delivering research with impacts to address sustainable development related issues, are:

The Centre for Decent Work and Productivity focuses on understanding how decent work and productivity are hindered by employment practices, and aims to engage with organisations and policy-makers, to shape the nature of decent work and employment.
