Equality Networks

The University has five networks providing a voice for University employees to engage with and consult on EDI-related matters. Members have an opportunity to put forward their views, at a time and in a way that influences the process of making decisions and help develop effective solutions.

  1. Disabled Staff Network

  2. Gender Staff Network

  3. Rainbow Network (LGBTQA+)

  4. Race Staff Network

  5. Working Parents & Carers Staff Network

The networks have helped to drive equity and inclusivity; some examples include:

  • Input into policies via the University’s Equality Impact Assessment process such as influencing family-friendly policies

  • Improvements to the academic calendar

  • Supporting the organisation with the development of resources and guidance to support employees with protected characteristics and their line managers

  • Participation in the Disability Confident submission, Athena Swan and Race Equality Charters

  • Organising annual events and activities to recognise the achievements of marginalised groups and progress equity for all.
