My profile

Biography

I began studying tourism at the age of 14 when I enrolled in a vocational tourism high school in my home town of Salzburg, Austria. In addition to my academic achievements, I am also a trained chef and restaurant & bar manager. After finishing school, I left Austria for the University of Derby where I obtained three degrees: Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Tourism, Master of Arts in Tourism Management and Doctor of Philosophy.

Before joining Manchester Met in summer of 2015, I spent several years living in Auckland, New Zealand where I worked as a Lecturer in Tourism at AUT University. I focused on teaching a wide variety of subjects and curriculum development (both under- and postgraduate programmes). Besides the UK and New Zealand I have also taught in Germany.

I am fluent in English and German. Sufficient in French.

Interests and expertise

Besides my role as a lecturer, I also currently hold the role as Assessment Lead in my department. I teach mainly on the undergraduate programmes and lead units such as Tourism Academic and Digital Skills, Tourist Behaviour and Media and Tourism while also teaching on consumer behaviour units. I am also involved in the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.

Projects

My research focus is primarily on educational assessment related projects. I currently work on projects that look at the role of student co-creation in assessment design, as well as ensuring success for all students. Making assessments fun for everyone is my passion.
