Carbon Literacy training for students
Do you want to improve your employability by gaining knowledge and skills other graduates don't have?
Are you worried about climate change and want to find out ways you can act on it?
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges we are currently facing and it will affect all aspects of society.
As a result, employers are increasingly realising the importance of employing graduates with an understanding of environmental and social issues in order to cope with future challenges.
By taking part in this training, you will gain an understanding of:
Carbon Literacy training consists of two parts:
1. ‘Carbon Literacy Knowledge’
‘Carbon Literacy Knowledge' will cover the basic science of climate change and you can complete this part of the training by either attending a film screening of "Before the Flood" on 4th of October 14:00-16:00 or by completing a 3 hour e-learning module.
2. Carbon Literacy Workshop- “Climate Change Action and Communication”
This is a workshop led by MMU’s Carbon Literacy trainers. In this fun and engaging session, you will learn about what you can do to act on climate change as well as how you can persuade others to do the same.
Qualifications and recognition:
You will receive an official Carbon Literacy Certificate and the training also counts towards your MMU Futures Award. Please note that you will need to complete both the “Carbon Literacy Knowledge” section as well as the “Carbon Literacy workshop” in order to gain your Carbon Literacy certificate.
This course is only for Manchester Met students.
Places are limited, so please only register if you are sure you can attend. If you fail to turn up you may be taking the opportunity from another student.
